At Calvert Veterinary Center, our doctors and staff focus on preventive care to keep your pet as healthy and safe as possible. Annual or semi-annual wellness check-ups allow our doctors the chance to assess the health of your dog. At these check-ups, our veterinary assistants collect a health history to determine whether there have been any recent changes with your pet's health. Our doctors will examine your pet from nose to tail, giving us the opportunity to detect any changes at an early stage and make recommendations for preventive care based on your pet's history, lifestyle and other factors. We are able to perform routine lab work including blood count, blood chemistry, urinalysis and parasite screenings. Our doctors may recommend additional preventive care from our animal hospital, such as blood pressure screening or glaucoma testing. If you notice a new lump on your pet's body, we may recommend testing the lump with a needle biopsy to gain more information.

Unfortunately, even with the best preventive care, illness can still occur. Watch your pet closely for any changes such as diarrhea, vomiting, rashes, irregular behavior, or changes to appetite or thirst. If you notice any of these symptoms, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with Calvert Veterinary Center. Call us at 410-360-7297.
